Milano Design Week is here: from the 17th until the 22nd of April all the design lovers will take over the city, famous for being the capital of Design, looking for the latest trends in the design sector. The main exhibitions will take place at Rho Fiera, but if you’re simply looking for some inspiration, you can discover the latest trends by walking around all the Fuorisalone districts.
What’s waiting for you?
Along with emerging designers displaying there stands and the focus on the green economy, together with the food sector, the main theme will be sustainable design, in terms of recycling and the circular economy.
Sustainability is becoming part of everyday life and designers are making an effort to implement changes in the way they work.
At the Tortona District, for example, you can visit Materials Village, an hub of Material ConneXion Italia dedicated to the use of materials, with high-tech and innovative projects in terms of aesthetics, sustainability, biodesign and circular economy. Among the authors of this project: Studio Marco Piva, Yona Friedman, PUMA e MIT Design Lab.
Another event not to miss is 5Vie, focusing on the theme of the environment and sustainability: with the project Vegan Design – Or the Art of Reduction, focusing on the use of vegan-compatible materials by Erez Nevi Pana, and the forum dedicated to the circular economy – “It’s circular” (15th and 16th of april) (Colonne di San Lorenzo/Piazza Vetra).
“Be Human: make projects with empathy” instead is the theme chosen by Brera Design District, where there will be over 100 events taking place, many of them are dedicated to the idea of recreating an emotional connection between people and objects.
The district of Isola instead will be focusing on the concept of Rethinking Material, a versatile experiment which implies the use of different materials, emphasizing the unique creativity of emerging and international designers.
Finally the highlight of Fuorisalone 2018, will be the district of Bovisa, with exhibitions featuring high-tech such as robotics and artificial intelligence with a green friendly twist.
